Ring intensive

Class overview image

Rings are the most fun pieces to carve in my unbiased opinion ;). By the end of this course you hopefully agree with me! In the first 4 weeks you learn the ins and outs of wax carving a few classic ring shapes. Then in the second 4 weeks you use that knowledge and carve your own rings! No rules, your imagination is the limit! You have the option to cast 1 (or more!) rings and learn casting clean up and polishing in the last class.

Course overview

Week 1: stacking ring Week 2: signet ring Week 3: bombe ring Week 4: finishing previous rings and start on your own designs. Choose which ring you want cast* Week 5/6/7: own ring designs. Practice, experiment and make your unique rings. Texturing and embellishing to find your preferred ring finishes encouraged! Week 8: casting clean up and polishing

*Casting is not included in the price. Since you have to pay extra you can decide if you want to cast a ring or not. You won’t get hands on experience in casting clean up and polishing if you don’t cast anything. We’ll discuss all this during the first few weeks so you can decide in the moment what you want to do.

Classes are Wednesday evenings from 18:30-21:30

First class starts 14th of January and last class is on March 4th

Docent

Hi I’m Sandy. I learned jewellery making, including wax carving, at the School of Jewellery in Dublin. After finishing my course, I taught at the school for a year and I also taught a wax carving workshop at Lucy Walker Jewellery in Kuala Lumpur. After learning all the basics of wax carving, I practiced and experimented A LOT. Something didn’t work out the first time I tried it? No problem, just try again (and again and again…) until it does work! Practice really is the only way to get better at something :) I love wax carving and I’m excited to teach you!
